End of 1st Grade ***sniff sniff***

Caroline is officially a BIG 2nd grader! She passed 1st grade with flying colors! Scott and I are so proud of her accomplishments! I took the day from work on her awards and end-of-year party. I really hadn't gotten to know the kids her class as in years past. Time just slipped away this year! Fortunately, I was able to put the faces with the names just in the nick of time!

Caroline received a few awards this year. Unfortunately, the name of the awards have slipped my mind right now. Go figure.

Caroline bolted up to the front when they called her name!
For their end-of-the-year party, they got to have water play outside. Those kids had a blast!
This picture just cracks me up because you can see Caroline's true personality coming out. She likes to mug for the camera for sure!
Such a sweet girl!
Each student was given a trophy like "Best Reader", "Best Mathmatician", etc. Get this. Caroline received the trophy for "Most Efficient". LOL! If you have seen Caroline's messy disaster-area of a room, you would know that she is NOT the most efficient child. Nor does she move at the speed of light. (She didn't get nicknamed "Grandma" for nothing!) Scott would attest to that in the morning getting ready for school! God Bless her.

This just goes to show you that she takes her schoolwork seriously and strives to be the best student! She has always been a teacher's pet and strives to make her teachers happy.
Her 1st Grade group picture with their well-deserved trophies. There she goes mugging for the camera again.

My Baby is getting soo big!

Well folks, my baby is no longer my baby! Coop had his preschool graduation the other week. It was a great graduation and it was so cute seeing Cooper and all of his friends singing and dancing to the songs.
He is pretty handsome if I do say so myself!
Ms. Tammy and Cooper. She was a great teacher and we will miss her dearly! She truly loved Cooper!
Love him!
Ms. Tammy chose Cooper and another sweet boy, Isaiah, to escort her on the stage.

Whoever said that boys are not fun to dress are silly! Cooper looked so cute in his shirt and tie!

We are still torn with where Cooper is going to go next year. He has an August birthday so we do not want him to go to kindergarten this year. We have to make a decision between sending him to a kindergarten program at the Christian school that he has been attending or a Pre-K class at the elementary school that he will be attending next year. There are pros and cons to each, so we are just trying to weigh or decisions and see what our work schedules will permit us to do.

Play Ball!

Cooper and Scott just finished their 1st season of T-ball. Scott decided to coach this year and really enjoyed it. We had a great groups of boys and girls, and parents too! The season finished up last week and we are already having t-ball withdrawal!
During practice, Scott would let the kids have races. This was definitely Cooper's favorite! He LOVES to run! In fact, he has been asking for some "Skechers" because "they make you speedy"!

Caroline's 7th Birthday Party

We had a great time for Caroline's 7th Birthday party! A new hotel was built and opened almost a month after her actual birthday. When I saw that the hotel was building an indoor pool AND two water slides, we decided then and there to wait until the hotel opened so we could have her birthday party there.
In order to swim at the pool, you had to actually stay at the hotel. So, we made reservations for two adjoining rooms which meant we could only legally invite 8 friends to swim and sleepover.

The girls had to walk up two flights of stairs and could choose which chute they wanted to slide down. You could hear them screaming with glee each time!
The girls resting after what seemed like hours of sliding!
Cooper and I even joined the fun!
We took a break outside to have pizza and cake!
The best part was having a sleepover in the hotel room! The girls were SO excited to go up to the room!
  1. The girls were so tired from swimming that they didn't whine or cry when it was bedtime. They were all conched out by 9:45!!!
  2. FREE BREAKFAST @ the hotel! Nope, I didn't have to cook or lift a finger the whole time! We ordered pizza and cake and the hotel provided free breakfast in the morning. Who could ask for more!
  3. NO CLEAN UP! We were home by 11:00 to a clean house and no mess! What really could be better?
If you have one of these hotels near you, I would highly recommend it!

R.I.P. my sweet Smudge

On April 13th, we unfortunately had to say goodbye to our cat, Smudge. He had a stay at the vet a month prior with kidney issues (typical in senior cats) and declined fast once he got home. I got Smudge my 2nd year of college back in 1995. He was a little menace to my roommates, but I loved him dearly. Not to be too sentimental, but he has been through a lot with me from my 20's and 30's from being a crazy college girl, moving to NC and getting a real job and settling down, to marrying Scott and having two pesky kids to swack around. Smudge, you will be greatly missed!
