Going on a boat ride!

After we came back from fishing today, Scott and I took the kids out for a boat ride. I had two items on our agenda that I wanted the kids to see:

1. See some Manatees - Check! You have to look closely, but they were trying to move around our boat. I caught their noses out of the water here. There is a cove right near their lake that usually has some manatees. Amazing creatures!

2. See some dolphins - Check! A mama and her baby.

Oh yeah, it hasn't been the greatest fishing this week but Scott and Bob caught two keepers today! Me? 6 Catfish. I haven't caught anything to write home about!

The kids have really been enjoying Nate and Jane's swimming pool. Although it has been colder and windier than usual, this has not stopped the kids from swimming.

Today, Jane got to swim with Cooper! After Cooper got out of the pool to use the potty, he forgot that he didn't have his shark (life jacket) on. Jane turned around to get his shark and heard "Cannonball". Yep, Cooper jumped right in the center of the pool without his shark. Good ol' Aunt Jane jumped right in with clothes and all and rescued Cooper. Thank goodness for her quick thinking!

Florida is SERIOUS about their parks!

We have had a great time visiting Uncle Nate & Aunt Jane this week so far. On Monday, I stayed at the house with the kids and Jane. We went to a park within walking distance from their house. This week it has been exceptionally cold for Southwest Florida. We definitely looked like tourists in our summer clothes while the locals were dressed in their winter gear! The kids had a great time at the park and got daring and swam a little in the pool.

On Tuesday while I was fishing with the men, Jane took the kids to another local park. The kids loved that park, too!



On Wednesday, I took the kids to a park in Fort Myers, Lake Park, that a local mother recommended. The park is 279 acres with a huge playgrounds, bikes to rent AND a real-life train to look at AND a train museum AND and a little mini-train ride! It was VERY nice! As soon as she told me that it had a train to ride on - we were ready to go! Let's just say Cooper was in love!

The train museum complete with train replicas, train videos, books, accessories, pictures, etc. Of course they had Thomas trains to buy. I stood my ground and did not buy "one more train". I did allow a train pencil/eraser for Cooper and a pen for Caroline. :)

They also had a pumpkin patch complete with a bounce house and blow-up slide. Again, very sunny!

All I can say is North Carolina needs to work on their parks!

Hello! My name is Caroline I am 6 years old. I get to update the blog sometimes. I like to do it alot! I think I am going to like doing this job! I have 8 cousins and 7 friends. My friends are very nice and they live very close to each other! I have a brother his name is cooper. He is 4 years old. His favorite color is green. My favorite color is pink and purple.

I did it!

Ok, so I think I am getting a little crazy. I ran my 1st 5k in March 2009. A bunch of girls in my neighborhood started running together early every Sunday morning to train for this 5k. We enjoyed getting to know each other and truly looked forwarded to our Sunday jogs. Since then, I have been hooked! I have run about 4 5k's since then slowly building up my endurance to where I am not dying at the end! My time has gotten a little better each time - not great, but better! Check out my results!

Before my 1st 10k!

Anyways, I ran my 1st 10k last month! I am not sure why, but I loved it! I ran a faster time than I thought I would and never stopped running once!

I told myself if I could run the 10k, why not a 1/2 Marathon? There is a 1/2 Marathon coming up December 5th that I am planning to run. I haven't signed up yet, but am "planning" to run it. There, I said it. It is in print. Agh! Now, I can't back down! Wish me luck on the 5th!!

It was a good day!

On Sunday, 9/20/09, I renewed my baptismal and Cooper was baptized for the first time! Our church has a special River Baptism Service in the spring and summer. I loved the idea and asked Cooper and Caroline wanted to get baptized at the river. Cooper chimed right in and said that he wanted to do it. Although I don't quite think he understood what was actually happening, he was not afraid to go in the river with me. I got fully dunked and he just got sprinkled. He cried when he his head got wet, but did manage to get an "Amen" when we were walking back. Caroline wanted to see how Cooper did before she took the plunge. I am hoping she will decide to go next time.

I absolutely LOVE our church! I can honestly say that I have never felt at home as I do at this church. God is good!

Our trip to the Zoo

Cooper was having a bad behavior week at school following some pretty rowdy kids and was receiving crayons on his cubby for bad behavior. So we told (Ok, bribed) Cooper if he didn't get any crayons and was good the next week that we would take him to the zoo. So, believe it or not, Cooper straigtened up and was good all week! And he has been on the straight and narrow ever since!

Caroline begged Scott for a ride when she saw Cooper riding on my shoulders. Scott informed her there wouldn't be much more of those in their future.


Since Pop and Pat-Pat live right near the zoo, they brought us lunch and enjoyed a picnic with us!

We had a great time at the zoo, but felt like we rushed through it in order to see all of the animals. Luckily, we decided beforehand to buy a yearly pass since the price for one day wasn't that much different. We plan to visit many more times this year!

We are going to Florida!

We are going to florida today! We are going to visit Nate and Jane. They have a pool and a waterfall at there house. I hope I get to see a manatee in the water with a baby manatee.

Happy October!

Boy, it sure is fall in NC! We woke this morning to a chilly 39 degrees! Ugh!

It has been a very busy month. Once again, I have been slack on updating my blog. With the new school year, work, and all these dates to remember running around in my head, it's amazing that I can actually remember where my shoes are in the morning!

In the next week, I am going to try to catch up on what we have been doing for the past month. I haven't taken as many pictures as I would like lately, so my posts may be more descriptive than visual!

In the meantime, I am going to teach Caroline how to update my blog. I thought it would be fun for her and fun for all of you to see what a six year old is thinking.
