On April 5th, Scott came home from work and found a crazy mess at our house. While were all at work and school, our lovely washing machine house burst! Apparently, this happens pretty often in the insurance world, or so we found out! That day, we were gone from the house from 9:00 ish to 3:30. We are thinking that it burst pretty early that morning after we left.
Our laundry room is right above that white door. See all of the water that was seeping through the brick?
The ductwork downstairs in our garage and basement were ruined. Scott poked a pin in it and look what came out? Yep, water.
This picture really gave me an idea of how much water really flooded the house. All of that water collected in that bin during the Bliss Flood o' 2011. Needless to say, all of that was ruined.
Water was pouring from the basement lights. In the basement, we will have to replace the sheetrock, heat pump and ductwork. Possibly more when we get experts out to assess the damage.
The laundry room is on the middle, right side of our house. The water spread through 1/2 of the main floor. We are having to take up our hardwoods in the dining room, entryway, hallway and powder room. In other words, all of the hardwoods except the living room which is on the left side of the house. And our kitchen tile that we just tiled last year, OUT! The picture above is our front door where they had already pulled up our hardwood floors. I am getting splinters just looking at that floor!
This is what our main area looks like. All of the doorways are closed off with plastic. We cannot use the kitchen at all since they packed up all of our cubbards and cabinets. Good times.
I keep telling myself that it could be A LOT worse and I truely believe that! No personal items, pictures, etc. were lost. Nothing was ruined that cannot be replaced is my motto! I am just hoping that the insurance will be fair and replace what we had with the same quality. We are being told that it could take up to 2 months before all is completely back to normal.
Until all is fixed, we will be eating out alot and living out of a suitcase! I will keep you posted as it progresses.
