Even though gas prices are at an all-time high, we decided to go ahead and go to the beach again for Memorial Day. The trip to Oak Island was .... unusual to say the least. On Thursday, Scott stopped off at the grocery store and bought some snacks. One of his favorite snacks is dried fruit. This time he bought dried plums home - which are really prunes. Scott and Caroline ate a handful each, which made me a little nervous knowing what prunes can do to someone. (FYI - Fruit Snacks don't come in prune-flavored for a reason!)
Flash forward 24 hours - somewhere in the middle of East BFE and Timbuktu, Caroline is in the backseat groaning like she was in the last stage of labor. After a dozen pit stops in dirty bathrooms across North Carolina, we made it to Oak Island. Needless to say, Scott lost his rights to buying snacks. By the way, Caroline is doing fine and is much more regular!

The beach wouldn't be fun without sparklers!
Cooper napping under the tent
Caroline freaked out when Cooper squashed her sandcastles

Dirty bathrooms...ugh! Too funny! I'd bar Scott too after that. I'm surprised the kids even ate them.
Yeah you made it to the beach!!!! Looks like fun. Even after the plum pit stop. Got to keep it interesting.:)
That is too funny!! I am glad you guys made it to the beach. You're right, it does cost an arm and a leg to go anywhere now.
